Fall Vibes: Election Year Edition

When we think about fall vibes, politics and voting may not IMMEDIATELY come to mind. Upon further thought, however, november elections mean that the campaign season overlaps significantly with the fall vibes season.

now, as we prepare for the 2024 fall vibes competition, we are also preparing for a presidential election, perhaps the most important one in many of our lifetimes. Because of this, I have decided to make election-related activities eligible for fall vibes points. My hope is that this serves as an additional incentive to get involved and participate in local and national politics, and that it helps people discover the full value of this work and how rewarding and fulfilling it can be.

If you are reading this, my own political leanings are probably no secret to you. still, I want to make it ABUNDANTLY clear how much is at stake in this election: Jobs, Health care, Reproductive rights, voting rights, the lives and safety of marginalized communities, climate justice, the future of democracy, the list goes on and on. THis will be a historic election, and We as americans have the choice to elect the first woman president (with the most PROGRESSIVE platform we’ve seen to date), or an elderly and insane convicted fellon who will bring with him not only the policies of project 2025, but also the people who created it into the white house. To me, the choice is clear, and if it is to you as well, I encourage you to go a step further than just casting your ballot on November 5th. DO something more.

It doesn’t need to take much time or energy, I know this can be a busy time of year, but even doing a little bit can go a long way. There are lots of ways to help and you can earn fall vibes points while you’re at it!

Here are some Ideas:

Get Involved Locally: FInd your local or school chapter of the democratic party or a local campaign office and join them for an event or find out about volunteer opportunities. (This is a great way to meet new friends and grow your community too!)

Phone Banks: find a local or virtual group and get on the phone to encourage people to vote blue! You can make calls in your local community or to people in another state. It might be intimidating at first, but you can make a real difference this way.

Canvassing: Go door to door to make sure people have all the information and resources they need to cast their ballot. This one is good to do with a friend, and it can really go a long way.

Write postcards: Find a good postcard initiative and write to voters. This is nice when you don’t want to talk to people and it’s easy to reach voters in key states. (Get your friends together for a postcard party to multiply the fun and impact!)

Talk to your friends and family: Having conversations with the people closest to you is probably the easiest way to start. Make sure your friends and family know how/when/where to vote, encourage them to get more involved and join you in volunteering, have honest and civil conversations with the people you disagree with and try to find common ground. Every voice matters and every vote counts. Make sure your people know why it’s important to vote blue up and down the ballot.

Need help? Just ask!

as with any fall vibes activities, I’m always happy to help provide guidance and support! The goal here is to get people excited and invested in fall and this election will be a big part of it. For the first time in awhile, I’m feeling excited and hopeful for this election. I think the harris-Walz campaign will be victorious but that victory is by no means GUARANTEED, and it will take everyone doing their part to get us there. Remember, it feels good to be a part of history So get fired up! Get Excited! Get out there! and Get out the Vote!
